QUEENSTOWN

Had kebab again for lunch. Queenstown is one sophisticated alpine resort renowned as New Zealand's Adventure Capital. A year round mecca for thrill seekers, the town's vast range of activities includes parapenting, skydiving, rafting, canyoning, fishing, abseiling, heli-skiing, hot air ballooning and macam-macam ada....

For today, we stayed at Rydges Hotel yg terletak betul2 menghadap Lake Wakatipu. Masuk aje hotel room, Amir noticed the hotel's swimming pool. Apa lagi, he insisted Papa to take him swimming. Aimy pun ikut. Eventhough, it wasbright & sunny, masih terasa sejuk. Amir got his wish, tapi tak sampai half an hour, dia dah stopped swimming. Tak tahan, kesejukan..

Went sight seeing, everything was within walking distance. Tengok org parasailing, paragliding, handgliding. Walked down to Queenstown Bay, stopped at the Ice Cream parlour. Ramai betul tourists, & mostly fr Taiwan, Korea, Japan, China. Even the shops kat sana banyak yg owner dia dari these nationality.

Since waktu ni summer, we had the advantage of the long summer twilight. At 10 pm, masih cerah lagi. Waktu sembahyang pun jauh beza dgn kat Msia:( Subuh 3.23am, Syuruk 5.55am, Zohor 1.45pm, Asar 5.54pm, Maghrib 9.33pm, Isyak 11.54pm )

Kids had fun playing at the shore of Lake Wakatipu. Very clear water tapi sejuk macam air batu. Watched peopleboarding the TSS Earnslaw steamship.

AJ HACKETT BUNGY - KAWARAU BRIDGE BUNGY

Next stop, tengok orang bungy jump dekat Kawarau Bridge. This is the world's first bungy site. Tali yg diguna utk bungy jump ni, is just hundreds of rubber bands tied together. Pandang ke bawah tengok sungai dia pun, Mama dah gayat. If one is daring enough, kena bayar NZ$150 per jump. Des, our driver said he could arrange for us to have a free jump, tak payah beratur lagi. But he added, "with no strings attached". He's a real funny man.

Fascinating, watching these dare devils doing the jumps. The watching crowds giving the count downs & cheered for them. One guy, jumped straight into the river. Berat sangat lah tu.

1000 AM Visit the famous Bungy Jump Site
1200 pm Arrive at Queenstown at own arrangement. Enjoy city tour.
0400 pm Hotel check in Rydges Hotel.

Lepas breakfast & checked out, went to Mrs Jones Fruit Stall. The stall was not that big, by the road side. Bought cherries, strawberries, kiwi fruits, grapes, sunflower seeds & nuts yg beraneka perisa. Fruits were fresh & sedap. Grapes were exceptionally sweet, papa pun puji lah. Des told us NZ tak tanam table grapes, their grapes utk buat wine aje. So, the sweet grapes yg we all makan tu, imported punyalah. Mama suka cherries dia, kids loved the strawberries.

Continued trip to Arrowtown, a historic gold-mining town. Arrowtown was "Born of Gold" in the 1860's. Today the town's main street is lined with faithfully restored historic buildings. Chinese were here as miners. At the edge of the town, there's a restored Chinese Mining Settlement. Bought some souvenirs fr this town. Suka tempat ni, very cosy.
